At the end of June, the leadership of the Anti-Imperial Block of Nations visited the Ivano-Frankivsk region. During the visit, ABN President Oleh Medunytsya and ABN Executive Director Oleh Vitvitskyj met with the Chairman of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Council, Oleksandr Sych, discussing specific areas of cooperation for the near future.
A round table meeting was organised at the Centre for Patriotic Education of Schoolchildren on the topic “Decolonisation of Russia and the emergence of new independent states: historical prerequisites, modern challenges and prospects” with the participation of ABN leaders, heads of the Ivano-Frankivsk City Council, soldiers of the Defence Forces of Ukraine, scientists, journalists and public figures of the Carpathian region.
On behalf of the Mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk, the Deputy Head of the Ivano-Frankivsk City Council, Viktoria Drotianko, welcomed the participants of the event. The leaders of the Anti-Imperial Block of Nations presented the current activities of the ABN, noting the good traditions of supporting the ABN cause in the Carpathian region.
During the discussion, reports were also heard from Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of the Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas Oleh Malyarchuk on the topic “Why the West fears the collapse of Russia and how to change the paradigms of losing control over nuclear weapons”, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of the V. Stefanyk Carpathian National University, Corresponding Member of the Academy of Tourism Volodymyr Velikochy on the topic “Education and the Decolonization of Russia”, Candidate of Philological Sciences Mykola Sulyatsky on the topic “Ethnocide and Assimilation, Postcolonial Discourse, Fate of Nations and Cultures Enslaved by Russia, Role of Culture in the Restoration of Statehood”, Director of the KP “Pam’yat” of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Council, Chairman of the Board of the Historical and Educational Society “Memorial” named after V. Stus, Postgraduate Student of the Carpathian National University named after V. Stefanyk, Vasyl Tymkiv on the topic “ABN in geopolitical concepts of the 20th-21st centuries.”
The participants of the “round table” laid flowers at the monument to Stepan Bandera, memorial plaques to the fallen Heroes of Ukraine, and a memorial plaque to the first President of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria, Dzhokhar Dudayev.
Anniversary awards of the Anti-Imperial Bloc of Nations were presented to Yaroslav Koretchuk – historian, public and political figure, postgraduate student of the V. Stefanyk Carpathian National University, coordinator of the ABN in Precarpathia, Yarem Petriv – public and political figure, who organised the process of collecting humanitarian aid from the residents of Ivano-Frankivsk region for the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria in 1994, and Mykola Borynsky – a leading figure of the nationalist movement in Precarpathia at the end of the 20th century, in whose house Dzhokhar Dudaev’s wife, Alla, was hidden for several weeks, whom Mykola Borynsky and his comrades later illegally smuggled to the West.
