For the last 20 years, the terror of national Tatar activists continues. After the full-scale invasion of Russia by war into sovereign Ukraine, this terror has only intensified and acquired new harsh forms. Tatar activists are receiving real prison terms for protests, for reposts about the rights of the Tatar people that are objectionable to Muscovy, and for posts against the war, relatives of activists who work abroad are being persecuted, and there is also total terror of Tatar activists for declaring the right of the Tatar people to independence from the terrorist country of Russia! Last week, Zinnur Agliullin, an aksakal (a wise elder) of the Tatar national movement, was detained once again, and a criminal case was opened against him. Zinnur Agliullin published an appeal to his compatriots abroad – to go out in front of the Russian embassy in their countries of residence and demand an end to the lawlessness of Russian security services. The Government of Independent Tatarstan in Exile condemns the ongoing terror of Tatar activists, Bashkir activists, and activists of the Volga region, condemns the violation of the rights of unfree nations and the involvement of our people in the war with Ukraine. We also demand the release of political prisoners and the cessation of the criminal case against Zinnur Agliullin!
