The Ingush Independence Committee sent emails to major international IT companies and open technology initiatives – including projects in the field of artificial intelligence – calling for support for the Ingush language (ISO 639–3: inh) and its inclusion in digital platforms and language technologies.
— Google — with a proposal to add the Ingush language to Google Translate
— Mozilla Common Voice — to start collecting voice data from speakers
— OpenAI — to the developers of ChatGPT and GPT models
— Hugging Face — to the authors of open multilingual AI
— xAI / Grok (Elon Musk) — with a request to include the Ingush language in future versions of Grok
— Apple — calling for the inclusion of the Ingush language in the interface languages of iOS and macOS, as well as in the keyboard, voice input and autocorrection systems
— Meta (Facebook, Instagram, Threads) — with a proposal to include the Ingush language in the lists of interfaces, translators and voice systems
Gӏalgӏay mott (Ingush language) is not just a means of communication for the Ingush.
It is what connects us with our history and ancestors. It is what we use to pass on the spirit of the people to future generations. It is that we will cease to exist as a people without.
Today, the Ingush language is not just under pressure. It is being systematically destroyed:
— It is not represented in the education system—children grow up without the right to study in their native language.
— He is ousted from government institutions — all documents, interaction with the system and official life are conducted exclusively in Russian
— It is ridiculed and suppressed — as a language that is “superfluous,” “unnecessary,” and “backward.”
This is not an accident.
This is a consistent colonial policy in which the occupiers deprive us of our language, and therefore deprive us of our future.
The scientific department of the KIN begins collecting and preparing a corpus of texts and audio recordings in the Ingush language.
