Anti-imperial Block of Nations

The final presentation of the British tour of the Anti-Imperial Block of Nations’ human rights project “Putin’s Real Prisoners: Political Prisoners of the Enslaved Nations” took place in Scotland. The event was hospitably hosted by the Ukrainian Club of the Union of Ukrainians of Britain in Edinburgh.

The presentation began with the awarding of the ABN Jubilee Award, which was presented by the ABN President, Oleh Medunytsya, to the famous historian and public figure, the ABN coordinator in Scotland, Petro Kormylo.

Oleh Medunytsya also told the participants of the event about the goal of the human rights project to support political prisoners who represent enslaved nations. In his speech, the President of the ABN mentioned the close cooperation of the ABN with the Scottish League for European Freedom during the Cold War.

The Consul of Ukraine in Edinburgh, Andriy Madzianovsky, welcomed those present at the presentation. He noted the relevance of the Anti-Imperial Block of Nations’ human rights work and suggested placing a banner exhibition of the project on the Consulate’s territory.

Executive Director of the ABN Oleh Vitvitskyj introduced the event participants to the stories of the main heroes of the project – political prisoners representing the Chechen, Bashkir, Tatar, Karelian, Kalmyk and other national movements of enslaved peoples. Oleg Vitvitsky specifically focused on information about the prison wanderings of Zarema Musayeva from Chechnya, Fail Alsynov from Bashkortostan and Andriy Vasyurenko from Karelia.

Director of the OUN Archive, Hennadiy Ivanushchenko, supplemented the stories of his predecessors regarding political repressions in the territory of the Moscow “prison of nations” and spoke about other areas of activity of the Anti-Imperial Block of Nations.

After the presentation, the ABN delegation visited the grave of John Stewart, the long-time leader of the Scottish League for European Freedom, a great friend of the ABN and the Ukrainian liberation movement during the Cold War.

As part of the visit, a constructive meeting of the leadership of the Anti-Imperial Bloc of Nations with Consul Andriy Madzianovsky took place at the Consulate of Ukraine in Edinburgh, where the main areas of cooperation were discussed.k
