On 17 March, in Vancouver, Canada, a presentation of the international human rights project “Putin’s Real Prisoners: Political Prisoners of the Enslaved Nations” took place. The Canadian partner of the initiative was the League of Ukrainians of Canada, an organization that has been supporting Ukraine’s struggle against Russian aggression for many years.
The head of the League of Ukrainians of Canada, Borys Mykhailets, emphasized in his speech that true unity among Ukrainians and our allies is the key to victory. He stressed the importance of informing the international community about the crimes of the Kremlin regime and taking active steps to secure the release of political prisoners held by Russia.

The President of the Anti-Imperial Block of Nations, Oleh Medunytsya, presented an exhibition showcasing the stories of individuals who have become victims of Putin’s repressions. He provided detailed accounts of the persecution of Ukrainian activists, Crimean Tatars, and representatives of the enslaved nations of the so-called Russian Federation, who are now political prisoners.
During his speech, Oleh Medunytsya answered numerous questions from attendees, explaining the mechanisms of international pressure on the Kremlin, strategies for freeing political prisoners, and the role of the Ukrainian diaspora in this process. He called on Ukrainians in Canada to actively support information campaigns, lobby for sanctions against Russian officials responsible for repression, and assist the families of imprisoned freedom fighters.
The event in Vancouver was another step in the global struggle for human rights and against Moscow’s imperial terror. Attendees had the opportunity to explore the exhibition materials and join initiatives aimed at securing the release of political prisoners.
The “Putin’s Real Prisoners” project continues its mission to speak the truth, mobilize international support, and fight for the release of those who are imprisoned today for their civic stance.
