An event has occurred in Georgia that could become a turning point in the struggle for independence from the Kremlin. The Supreme Council of the Republic of Georgia, which continues to consider itself the sole legitimate authority, has declared the restoration of the legitimate government, overthrown in the early 1990s by a military coup and the intervention of Russian intelligence services. Today, this government is returning to the country, claiming its right to represent the Georgian people. While the current pro-Russian government continues to follow Moscow’s orders, the new political centre is declaring resistance and a return to democratic principles. We discussed this with Merab Chukhua, one of the ministers in the restored Gamsakhurdia government in Georgia.
