On 16 April, the Anti-Bolshevik Bloc of Nations (ABN) celebrates its 80th anniversary. Eighty years ago, the ABN became a unique organisation, uniting various freedom-loving nations seeking to throw off the imperial shackles of the USSR.
Tatars also participated in the first congress of the ABN and in its subsequent activities. We are proud that even then, Tatars not only possessed a desire for independence and a clear vision but also took practical steps to achieve it.
The results of the ABN’s consistent and extensive work during and after World War II are clear and have yielded results: in the 1990s, 15 former Soviet republics became independent. Many autonomous republics also had a good chance of achieving independence, including Tatarstan.
Today, the Anti-Imperial Block of Nations continues the important and necessary work begun by the Anti-Bolshevik Bloc of Nations. Our joint efforts toward the decolonisation of Russia and the liberation of the nations forcibly subjugated by Moscow’s colonialism will bear tangible fruit.
We are proud that the head of the Tatarstan Independence Committee, Aida Abdrakhmanova, is the vice president of the Anti-Imperial Bloc of Nations.
We congratulate the Anti-Bolshevik Bloc of Nations and its successor, the Anti-Imperial Block of Nations, on this significant historical date!
Sincerely, the team of the Tatarstan Independence Committee
