After processing 98.38% of the protocols, it was calculated that 41.98% of the votes were for the current president and 26.31% for the ex-prosecutor (supported by pro-Moscow forces) Oleksandr Stoyanoglo.
So, there will be a second round, which will take place on 3 November.
50.08% of voters voted for including the European vector in the Constitution, against – 49.92% after processing 98.42% of the protocols.
So, the referendum on European integration gave a positive answer. Voters with a small advantage supported the changes to the constitution, and now the norms on its European integration will appear in the main law of Moldova.
Two results were provided by the diaspora, inside Moldova itself, people voted against the country’s rapprochement with the EU.
The election saw reports of fraud and vote-buying, with Maya Sandu claiming mass purchase of 300,000 votes. Pro-Moscow political forces tried to influence the results by undermining the referendum on European integration. Their tactics included running many candidates and campaigning against the referendum or for a boycott.
The Moscow Federation and its proxy structures actively support these efforts, seeking to change the geopolitical course of Moldova. One of the key tools is the Shor party, headed by Moldovan oligarch Ilan Shor, who created a network of 130,000 people, paid to support one of the incumbent president’s rivals.
The elections in Moldova have shown that it is necessary to fight against Moscow’s propaganda all over the world, especially in the countries that Moscow wants to subjugate.
In Moldova, the next round is the second round, and a year later – parliamentary elections, in which it will be very difficult for pro-European forces to retain power.
