The NGO Arc.UA invites you to participate in a community event with Janusz Bugajski, author of the book, Failed State: A Guide to Russia’s Rupture, published in 2022 by the Jamestown Foundation and translated into Ukrainian by Arc.UA in February 2023 https://failedstate.com.ua. The event will take place at 19:00-20:30 on 11 October 2023 at the Main Hall of the AUGB Ukrainian Centre, 154 Holland Park Ave., London. The discussion will be moderated by Ulana Suprun, MD, editor-in-chief of the Ukrainian language online journal The Arc https://arc.ua.
Janusz Bugajski is an expert on Russia, Central and Eastern Europe, and transatlantic relations, currently working as a senior fellow at the Jamestown Foundation in Washington D.C. He is the author of over 20 books, has lectured extensively at universities and research institutes, and has written numerous articles for American and European media.
In his newest book, Janusz reveals the systemic weaknesses of Russian government institutions riddled with authoritarianism and corruption, and uncovers Russia’s internal fascism, imperial expansionism, and irredentism. Today’s unprovoked and illegal war against Ukraine may prove to be the key to the disintegration of the fictitious Russian “Federation,” actually representing nothing more than the current iteration of the Muscovite empire and a “Potemkin” great power.
In April 2023, Failed State: A Guide to Russia’s Rupture was awarded the honour of being named Best Foreign Language Book by the University of Warsaw. The Russians have characterized the book as laying out “the plan of Russia’s destruction.”
Janusz will discuss his new book, his recent visit to Ukraine, and lecture on the topic “Ending the Kremlin’s Memory Wars Against Ukraine.”
