In Bulgaria, an employee of the headquarters for combating organized crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was detained at his workplace, for allegedly passing on secret information to a former diplomat of the Russian Embassy in Sofia, who was declared persona non grata some time ago.

Details: The actions of law enforcement agencies are carried out under the supervision of the Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office.
The State Agency for National Security is also handling the case.
According to NOVA, information about a spy in the ranks of a law enforcement agency came from special services from abroad.
What happened before :
- In the spring of 2022, Bulgaria expelled a total of more than a dozen employees of the Russian embassy who were engaged in espionage activities.
- In September, the National Security Agency of Bulgaria confirmed the expulsion of a representative of the Russian Orthodox Church and two more priests – citizens of Belarus.
