Kalevala Day (Kalevalan päivä; Kalevaladagen) is celebrated on February 28, the day on which Elias Lönnrot signed the preface to the first completed manuscript of the Vanha Kalevala in 1835.

Every year on Kalevala Day, a wreath is laid at the Elias Lönnrot monument, and then at memorial events excerpts from the Kalevala are read and Runes are performed.
