In Karelia, attempts by the authorities to influence public opinion regarding the perception of migrants have been recorded. The authorities are sending out special instructions, intended to change the mood of the residents.
Thousands of Karelian men were mobilized and died in the war. To make up for the shortage of working hands, the government is trying to replace them with loyal migrants from Central Asia. This will change Karelia’s national composition. Moscow plans to dilute the Karelian ethnos on Karelian land and make the population more loyal to the imperial centre.
