Anti-imperial Block of Nations

Today, 25 July, Nikolai Suvorov, co-chairman of the Liberation Movement “Free Udmurtia,” submitted his nomination documents to the Organising Committee for the elections to the Council of Representatives of the Peoples of the Udmurt Republic.
Nikolai Suvorov is one of the leaders of the Udmurt national liberation movement, one of the most famous and consistent opposition politicians in the republic.
Nikolai Alekseevich was born on 8 August, 1967, in the village of Bolshoy Zhuzhges, Uvinsky District, into a family of a beekeeper-mechaniser and a paramedic. He is fluent in Udmurt.
A historian and lawyer by training, Suvorov was elected three times to the Council of Deputies of the Khokhryakovskoye Municipality, and then served two terms as head of the Khokhryakovskoye Municipality in the Zavyalovsky District. In this position, he gained notoriety for his principled anti-corruption stance, seeking to publicise information about corruption among the republic’s top officials. It was for this purpose that he founded the newspaper “Slovo i Delo.”
Nikolai Suvorov consistently opposed the authoritarian policies of the Russian authorities and participated in protests. In 2014, he left the A Just Russia party in opposition to the annexation of Crimea and the onset of Russian aggression against Ukraine.
For his political position, he was persecuted and eventually forced to leave Russia.
Since 2022, Nikolai Suvorov has been a delegate to the Congress of People’s Deputies of Russia, and in June 2023 he became one of the founders and co-chairs of the Free Udmurtia Movement.
We will provide more details about the candidate’s biography, his political platform, and his goals for running in the elections in our next publications.
We once again call on all those connected to Udmurtia and who share the values of freedom, democracy, and the people’s right to independently determine their future to participate in the first free elections to the Council of Representatives of the Peoples of the Udmurt Republic.
Applications and questions related to their submission can be sent to the Organizing Committee’s email address: udmurtia_orgkom@proton.me
