In Krakow, I presented a report on the role of the Moscow Patriarch Kirill Gundyaev in promoting the ideology of the “Russian world” and justifying Russia’s war against Ukraine, which I delivered as part of an international conference on the topic “Russian Imperialism: History and Memory”. The conference was held at the Pedagogical University of the Commission for National Education (Kraków, Poland). Scientists and experts from Poland, Ukraine, Great Britain, Sweden, Greece, India, Brazil, Romania, Hungary, Lithuania, Georgia, Azerbaijan and other countries took part in its work.
It is important to continue to testify to the Western world about the criminal ideology of the modern ruling regime of the Russian Federation, which is embedded in the justification and motivation of its aggression against Ukraine. After all, the reasons for this war are not at all in the events of 2022 or 2014, but much deeper. Analysis of statements and documents of Russian elites over the past 25 years shows that, unfortunately, this war was inevitable (Russia has been actively preparing for it since at least 2005, which the world, unfortunately, did not want to notice).
Poland is one of the few European countries that clearly feels and understands the threat and danger of imperial tendencies and propaganda in Russia. Therefore, it is extremely important to deepen cooperation with Polish colleagues at various levels. Despite certain nuances, Poland was, is, and will be not just the closest neighbour, but also the closest and priority ally of Ukraine.
Sincere gratitude to the organizers of the conference for organizing a representative scientific forum and raising the issues and dangers of Russian imperialism. And a special thanks to Professor Andrzej Nowak and Dr. Przemysław Lukasik
