According to Oleh Medunytsa, this exchange can hardly be called equal. “Once upon a time, there was such a humorous song “They swapped a hooligan for Luis Carvalan”, which symbolized the exchange of prisoners during the Cold War. During the last exchange, the Western allies received their citizens, hostages in Russia and Russian political prisoners. Instead, spies, killers and plain criminals were given to Putin, Oleh Medunytsia stressed. – Putin triumphs. He proves to his subordinate elites that “Russia does not abandon its own.” He gives another carte blanche to his terrorist team to destabilize the civilized world.
And what did the West win?
In my opinion, the pleasure of getting three of my citizens, one of whom was detained for a few candies with marijuana, was not worth the exchange.
The Russian dissidents who gained freedom did the West a disservice by declaring the inexpediency of broad sanctions against Russia, the President of the Anti-Imperial Block of Nations believes. – I simply cannot imagine if, for example, Volodymyr Bukovsky, a long-term Soviet political prisoner, who, by the way, was changed to the same character from the song about Louis Karvalan in 1976, would have spoken out against sanctions after the invasion of Afghanistan. Like, don’t punish the Soviet nation. It is kind. Sanction Brezhnev and Marshal Ustinov. It was not the political prisoner who left. Some kind of masochists. Just got rid of the prison and immediately let’s praise it. The prison is said to be generally good – the escorts are somewhat evil. I would change them.
The representatives of the national liberation movements of nations enslaved by Russia were most shocked by such an exchange. Their comrades, who waged an armed struggle against Putin’s regime, are in terrible agony in Russian concentration camps, where they are slowly and cynically killed. Instead, functionaries from the Russian “democratic” opposition, the result of which is zero, were given freedom. Moreover, they are trying to convince the West of the need to preserve Russia.
Russia cannot be defeated with such an approach!
Western leaders must take a strategic course to destroy the Russian state as the greatest threat to the civilized world. It is necessary to support the national liberation movements of nations temporarily under Russian occupation. They, like Ukrainians, fight and die, in the end, not only for the freedom of their own nations but for the values of democracy and against totalitarianism, which is the greatest threat to the West, Oleh Medunytsya concluded.
