On 19 December, an expert discussion entitled “Vectors of Ukrainian State Policy on Supporting Nations Colonized by the Russian Federation” was held at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, in partnership with the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Freedom of Speech and the Koretsky Institute of State and Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
Participants in the incident included members of the Ukrainian parliament, experts on decolonization, leading scientists, and public and political figures.
Information was presented on the work of the temporary special commission of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the development of state policy regarding the enslaved peoples of the Russian Federation (for the period 2024-2025).
Oleh Medunytsya, Chairman of the Organisation of Ukrainian Nationalists (Banderites) and President of the Anti-Imperial Block of Nations, attended the event. In his speech, the President of the ABN emphasised the need for the swift adoption of the Ukrainian Law “On the Basic Principles of State Policy of Ukraine on Interaction with National Movements of Colonial Nations of the Russian Federation.”
He also noted that immediately after its adoption, the government must quickly develop a Strategy for the Implementation of the Law and a set of measures for its practical application.
The discussion focused on the role of personal and sectoral sanctions in protecting the rights of nations colonized by the Russian Federation, and highlighted the need to improve the draft Law of Ukraine “On the Fundamental Principles of State Policy of Ukraine on Interaction with National Movements of Colonial Nations of the Russian Federation.”
Participants agreed on the need to exert maximum effort to ensure this law is passed as quickly as possible. It should serve as a model for similar legislative initiatives in Europe, the United States, Canada, Japan, and elsewhere. The idea of decolonizing Muscovy should unite all progressive forces in the civilized world.
The panel discussion was held with the expert support of the Association of Ukrainian Lawyers and the Ukrainian Centre for Constitutional and Legal Research.
