See Akhmed Zakayev’s commentary on Blinken’s vague statement about the possibility of inviting Putin to the G20 summit.
On my own behalf, I will add that we in the Caucasus know well what such “statements” are in an applied sense.
When, after the 1992 massacre of Georgians opposing the Russian Empire, after the illegal overthrow of Zviad Gamsakhurdia, Secretary of State Baker embraced the murderers Shevardnadze and Yeltsin.
When Clinton in 1994 was not upset about Yeltsin’s extermination of the Chechens.
When in 2001, Bush Jr. took the main terrorist – Putin – as an ally in the fight against international terrorism.
When in 2008, after the attack on Georgia, Obama launched a “reset” with Putin.
And now, after everything Putin has done in Ukraine.
After Putin’s demonstrative action in Crocus.
Blinken considers it possible to discuss the terms of Putin’s participation in the G20?
