“My mother and I had a different opinion.” The story of the Buryat-Mongolian Oleksiy Vasiliev, who defends Ukraine

Oleksiy Vasiliev is a Buryat-Mongolian who protects Ukraine from the start of a full-scale war. The fighter is from Ulan-Ude, Russian Federation, and serves in the 108th battalion of the 10th separate mountain assault brigade. In 2009, he moved to Ivano-Frankivsk. Here he learned Ukrainian, got an acting degree and worked as a DJ.

Oleksii Vasiliev told Suspilny about his service in the army, his attitude towards the Buryats who fight on the side of Russia, and what he will do after the end of the war.
