4 August marks 40 days since our unforgettable Friend Stefan Romaniw left for Eternity
The long-time head of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists – Banderites, vice-president of the Anti-imperial Block of Nations, vice-president of the World Congress of Ukrainian Youth Organizations – SKUMO, he belonged to that category of people that we call irreplaceable.
Nationalist. Conductor. Leader. Fighter. A true friend. A wonderful father and grandfather. Over the past few decades, there has not been such a Ukrainian cause in which Friend Stefan was not involved: support for warring Ukraine, aid to the army, volunteering, work with Ukrainian refugees, and before that – international recognition of the Holodomor, leadership in the OUN, active participation in the Revolution of Dignity, youth education, titanic work in SCU.
Today I feel obliged to emphasize again that treacherous Moscow killed Stephan Romaniv! Like his famous predecessors – Yevhen Konovalets and Stepan Bandera. He always radiated great strength and health, it seemed that he would live for a hundred years. But for the first time, his health deteriorated after he was poisoned by unknown substances on the Maidan. We know and understand well who shot the Maidan and who tried to destroy the protesters in various ways. As it turned out, unfortunately, Friend Stefan was never able to completely overcome the consequences of that poisoning, although he remained active and effective until the last days of his earthly life.
I am writing about his last days because it so happened that we spent them side by side. At the ABN Congress in Kaunas, which he personally co-organized. Moreover, we travelled together from Warsaw to Kaunas and had the opportunity to talk sincerely about everything in the world for five whole hours. Now I understand that this is exactly how he wanted to say goodbye to me: with a calm, as always cheerful and fatherly conversation… During that conversation, we mentioned the Maidan, the “Insurgent Alphabet” (one of the editions of which he helped to publish), and the family, which he loved very much, and about football (the Australian one, with red and black colours), about church affairs and about his health, which was already bothering him, and about Ternopil, because, having been born in distant Australia, he did not renounce the small Motherland of his ancestors, and about the ABN, because he saw great prospects in this matter.
And then he was gone… Suddenly, tragically, incomprehensible… Plans, dreams and affairs remained, there remained a difficult path to the Great Victory, in which he steadfastly believed and which he brought closer with every effort, every moment of his burning and dedication…
We will undoubtedly win it, dear Friend Stefan, this long-awaited, just Great Ukrainian Victory! We will win for all of us: living, dead, and unborn Ukrainians. We will gather in memory of Heroes of all eras and in memory of you…
The Kingdom of Heaven… I know that you continue to pray and fight there too!
Eternal Glory to the Great Ukrainian Stefan Romaniv!
