A funeral service was held on 12 July in Melbourne, Australia. My word at the coffin:
“Dear congregation, highly venerable fathers, dear grieving family. Today, here in Melbourne, we have gathered from all over the world to see Stefan Romaniv on his last journey.Friend Stefan was the long-term Leader of our organization – the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists under the banner of Stepan Bandera. Work in it is not easy and is often dangerous. It requires dedication and sacrifice. We worked with him every day. For us, he was not just a manager. He was a friend, a mentor, a counsellor and a person who had unconditional authority.Born in Australia, which is far from Ukraine, he won the recognition of Ukrainians all over the world with his work and talent. Heads of public organizations, influential politicians and ordinary Ukrainian activists all over the world listened to his advice, suggestions, and public speeches. He had many positive traits that we can describe for a long time. I’ll stop at one. This is his love! The love of a person with a big heart, in which there was a place for everything!First of all, his family. To his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, whom he adored. And to whom he always tried to get to as soon as possible after long business trips around the world.Love for Ukraine and the Ukrainian nation! A land that lies far from Australia, and whose people constantly suffered from the actions of an insidious aggressor who tried to destroy it. This love gave him the strength to fight for Ukraine and live for Ukraine. In this activity, friend Stefan often limited himself, his needs, not even sparing his personal health. On behalf of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, I express my sincere condolences to the family and to all those for whom Stefan Romaniv was a close and dear person. This is a great loss for us and our Great Ukrainian Cause!Sleep well, dear friend! Your memory is forever in our hearts and we will continue your work.May you win the Kingdom of Heaven!”
