The Russian missile ship “Serpukhov” in Baltiysk, Kaliningrad Region, was set on fire by a former Russian sailor who defected to Ukraine. Currently, he is a recruit of the “Freedom of Russia” legion with the call sign “Goga”.
The representative of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence Andriy Yusov and “Goga” himself stated this at a press conference, the correspondent of OBOZ.UA reports. According to Yusov, the destruction of “Serpukhov” was part of the operation “Rybalka”, which lasted from 2023.
As a result of this operation, a large amount of important information was obtained and the Serpukhov ship was disabled for at least half a year.
A sailor of the Russian Baltic Fleet, who served the Russian Federation for 11 years, but in 2022 doubted the adequacy of the Russian government when the aggressor country attacked Ukraine, helped to carry it out.
At first, he tried to find like-minded people on his ship, but a case was opened against him and the sailor had to communicate with the prosecutor’s office of the Russian Federation.
In 2023, “Goga” turned to the “I want to live” project, which for its part coordinated him with the legion. So the man became a saboteur and cooperated with Ukrainian intelligence.
He supplied classified information until April 2024 for intelligence agencies. That month, the command of the Russian Federation decided to involve the Baltic Fleet crews in the war in Ukraine.
To avoid “Goha’s” participation in the war on the side of the Russian Federation, it was decided to ferry him to the territory of Ukraine. Before that, he sabotaged and set fire to the ship “Serpukhov”, on which he was serving.
In addition, “Hoga” handed over secret information about the Baltic Fleet and Russian military-industrial complex to the GUR.
It is known that the man is an ethnic Ukrainian and comes from a military family.
We will remind you that the “Freedom of Russia” legion is Russian as part of the International Legion of Terrodefence of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, formed in March 2022 to protect Ukraine from Russian aggression. It includes former soldiers of the Russian Armed Forces and other Russians, and Belarusians who have defected to Ukraine.
As OBOZ.UA reported, the Serpukhov missile ship burned in the Kaliningrad region of the Russian Federation on 7 April 2024. The ship was stationed at the “Baltiysk” naval base of the occupiers. “Serpukhov” suffered serious damage and was sent for repairs.
OBOZ.UA sources reported that the NP with the Russian ship was a special operation of the GUR.
It should be noted that on the same day in Russian Vladivostok, the Russian “Catherine the Great” – the only ice-class supply ship in the world – burned. Moscow reported one dead and three injured.
