Hakuru Baddalage Gedana Lahiru Kavinda Hathurusinghe joined the International Legion in October 2023. Since June 2025, he has served in the AFU unit as a senior sergeant, commander of the counter-sabotage company.
The soldier died in the Sumy region while performing a combat mission.
At the request of the soldier himself and with his family’s consent, he will be buried in Mlynov next to his commander and brother Patapili Hewaja Shenana Ranishka. He was also originally from Sri Lanka and died earlier.
“Let us dignify the last journey of the brave Warrior, a true Hero who gave his life for a peaceful sky in our Ukraine!”, the community wrote.
The soldier will be buried at the local cemetery. According to Buddhist traditions, the funeral service for the deceased has already taken place in the warrior’s homeland, Sri Lanka.
The Anti-Imperial Block of Nations expresses its sincere condolences to the relatives of the deceased and his brothers.
