The President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, called on Georgians to support one of the opposition parties in the October 26 elections, which supported the action plan, which should lead Georgia to the opening of accession negotiations with the EU.
“European Truth” writes about this, and ” Echo of the Caucasus ” reports.
Zurabishvili called on citizens to vote for one of the four opposition parties that signed the “Georgian Charter”. This action plan is designed to bring Georgia to the start of negotiations with the EU. The signatories, in particular, are the coalition “Unity-National Movement”, the coalition “For Changes”, “Strong Georgia” and “Gakharia for Georgia”.
“In this case, all those people who believe that the only way forward for Georgia is Europe, have the opportunity to choose the one (party) that is closer to their desires and tastes. This means that any vote given to any of these 4 parties will bring us to Europe,” Zurabishvili said.
In addition, the president said that she intends to join the march and action “Georgia Chooses the European Union”, which will take place on October 20 at Freedom Square in Tbilisi.
“This is a significant day because our stability depends on it. It is important that people come out peacefully and demonstrate their will to return freedom, independence and a European future to the country,” said the Georgian president.
In parallel with the opposition rally, there will be a concert organized by the Tbilisi City Hall on the occasion of the opening of the new park.
The pre-election period in Georgia is accompanied by increasing tension due to the anti-Western turn of the current government, which threatens to freeze the country’s European integration.
At the 17 October summit in Brussels, the leaders of the EU countries repeated their statement about halting the European integration process of Georgia.
