“Unfortunately, all red lines have been crossed. There are victims.” Well-known cultural and academic figures of Bashkortostan (historian Kulsharipov, philologist Kuzbekov and National Artist Gabitov) in a video message called on the head of the republic Khabirov to urgently stop persecuting protesters because of the conviction of the leader of the Bashkort organization Alsynov. They demand to “sit down at the negotiating table” with the public and all those who disagree, to stop “denigrating the Bashkirs in the media”, “to stop dividing the residents of the republic into friends and foes”, to bring to justice those responsible for the violence and the death of those detained, and to release all those illegally taken into custody. According to them, dialogue is necessary to “stop the artificial confrontation between the people and the authorities” and security forces and to prevent “new tragic incidents.” Earlier it became known that one of those detained in Bashkortostan, Dautov, died, and the other, Davletkildin, is in serious condition.
