Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, at least 14,003 natives of the Volga region have died.
The largest number of deaths is from Bashkortostan (2,007 people). In second place according to this criterion is Tatarstan (1,690 people). In third place is the Perm Territory (1,469 people).
Exactly a month ago, in April, Idel.Realii established more than 13 thousand dead. The increase in deaths over the month amounted to a thousand people.
Bashkortostan, under the leadership of Radiy Khabirov, stands out among many Russian regions for its contribution to the war with Ukraine. In 2022, volunteer battalions named after Shaimuratov, Dostavalov and Salavat Yulaev were formed in the republic and sent to the front. In the spring and early summer of 2023, the battalions “Vatan”, “Northern Cupids” and the battalion named after Dayan Murzin went to war. In August, echelons of the volunteer motorized rifle regiment “Bashkortostan”, counting 2,500 soldiers, went to the front.
The list of dead includes only those whose deaths were recognized in one way or another by the Russian side, relatives of the victims, or educational and other public institutions. Actual numbers may be higher.
