Within the framework of the Normandy World Peace Forum (Caen, France), they comprehensively discussed problematic issues related to Russian aggression against Ukraine, in particular, both its political and religious aspects. In the first photo, our original “brain centre”).
As part of the forum, a closed seminar “WHAT MEMORIAL POLICIES FOR THE DAY AFTER IN EUROPE?” was held, at which I was invited to report on the use of the Russian Orthodox Church in the KGB’s agent activities abroad and the defence of the political interests of the communist regime at the international level, in particular through the participation in the ecumenical and other international religious movements. He also touched on the question of how the monopoly of the ROC MP was artificially secured in the USSR through brutal repression and the destruction of alternative churches – UAOC, UGCC, IPC, structures and parishes of the Constantinople, Romanian, Serbian Patriarchates, etc. This question, as it were, from the “Soviet past” relates directly to today’s events, and without their study and disclosure, it is impossible to understand the reasons why the ROC MP and Moscow Patriarch Kirill Gundyaev actively support the Putin regime and its criminal activities. Therefore, a comprehensive, honest and frank discussion on this topic is needed, because its silence for the last 30 years contributed to the fact that the ROC MP turned into a propaganda machine of war.
The workshop was organized in partnership with the Collège des Bernardins (Paris, France) and the Normandy World Peace Forum. European, Ukrainian and even Russian opposition figures and experts took part in the seminar. During ten hours of intensive brainstorming, we worked out some important conclusions and suggestions together. See the link below.
In total, more than 200 speakers took part in this year’s 7th Normandy World Peace Forum in Caen (Normandy, France): European government officials, politicians and diplomats, academics, experts, lawyers, and economists from many countries. The theme of this year’s forum: “This world that is slipping away from us – How to win peace in the face of new violence?”.
The Normandy World Peace Forum is a powerful international platform, so to speak, a “laboratory of thought and mediation”, which is aimed at solving the main issues of war, peace, freedom and human rights.
This year’s forum included conferences, debates, and seminars with the participation of European politicians, representatives of the academic and expert environment, and civil society. In particular, representatives from Ukraine participated, to which special panel discussions and other events were dedicated.
The work of the forum lasted from 24-27 September. The place of the Forum was not chosen by chance, as exactly 80 years ago, Normandy became the place where the struggle for democracy and peace in Europe began (on 6 June 1944, the landing of Allied troops began in Normandy, which led to a global turning point during the Second World War and the subsequent victory over Nazism).
