The documentary project “Defeats of the Russian Empire” on the basis of historical facts refutes the main Russian myths and proves that the ideas about the power of the Russian army have always been greatly exaggerated, and most of the wars fought by Russia were of an aggressive nature. The authors aim to show that not only Russian, but also any aggressor can and must be defeated, as it has already happened many times in history.
The director and author of the idea of the project “Defeats of the Russian Empire” is Ivan Tymshin .
The ambassador of the UKF, a well-known Ukrainian actress and public figure, Halyna Sulima , told “Detektor Media” in more detail about this project .
“According to the creators , the project should demonstrate to the viewer that Russia has always acted as a ruthless , lying aggressor who did not adhere to any treaties , laws , moral or humanitarian norms,” Galina Sulima reported.
The authors of the project consider it an effective tool of counter-propaganda, which is based on objective historical facts and proves that the “ strength and power” of the Russian army is a propaganda myth; most of the wars started by Russia were of an aggressive nature; “we do not abandon our own” is a myth and a lie, because human losses and the lives of soldiers have never mattered to the aggressor country.
The first episode – “Defeats of the Russian Empire: Japan” – is dedicated to the Russo-Japanese War of 1904-1905. It draws many analogies with the modern war that Russia has waged against Ukraine.
One of the key advantages of the project, its creators believe, is that important historical information is presented in a dynamic, modern and interesting mass media form.
In general, the “Defeats of the Russian Empire” project involves the creation of six episodes. In addition to the history of the Russo-Japanese War, viewers will get to know the history of five more wars fought by Russia: with Turkey, Finland, Great Britain, Poland and the Baltic states.
