The document is an information leaflet issued as part of the international campaign “Captive Nations Week”, which took place from November 22 to 29, 1970.
Main theses of the document:
Analysis of the geopolitics of the USSR: This is a huge Russian colonial empire, where Russians make up only half of the population.
List of enslaved nations: The list includes the countries of Eastern Europe (Albania, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Yugoslavia), the Baltic countries (Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia), and nations within the USSR.
The role of Ukraine: It is separately emphasised that Ukrainians (numbering almost 50 million) are the largest national group among the enslaved nations of the USSR, which actively resists Russification, terror, and genocide.
The global threat of communism: In addition to Moscow, Beijing is named as the source of tyranny, and the establishment of communist regimes in North Korea, Vietnam, Cuba, and political changes in Chile are also mentioned.
Call to Action: The leaflet calls on the West not to stand aside and to support the struggle of enslaved nations for basic human rights and national independence.
