Former State Duma deputy of the Russian Federation and ultra-patriot Viktor Alksnis, who at one time predicted the collapse of the USSR, now speaks of the high probability of the Russian Federation disappearing from the political map of the world. He made a corresponding statement on his Telegram channel on 7 February Dialog.UA reports.
He noted that the Russian Federation, having gotten involved in a war with Ukraine, found itself under the threat of “division (collapse) and disappearance as a sovereign independent state – a subject of international law.” Alksnis recalled that in the early 90s, when he predicted the collapse of the USSR, he was criticized, being accused of “inflaming passions.” Then his forecast was completely justified. Now a similar story is happening in the Russian Federation. “And now I am again ringing all the bells with warnings about the possibility of the collapse of the Russian Federation,” writes the Z-patriot. According to him, there are several reasons for the future collapse of the Russian Federation. Firstly, this is the very form of government system – a federation, which does not strengthen the unity of the country. “I can assure you that in many national republics within the Russian Federation, the national elites are “yearning” for independence, justifying this with statements like: “Why can Estonia be independent, but we can’t?” And most importantly, these national elites are already ready today to seize power in the event of a crisis in Moscow. The fact that defeat in Ukraine will cause such a crisis is beyond doubt for me,” Alksnis said. The second reason for the impending collapse of the Russian Federation is the growing crisis in the highest echelons of Russian power and the weakening of Moscow as a centre of power. One of the manifestations of this weakness was the sensational military revolt of the “Wagnerites,” who tried to turn their weapons on the Kremlin.
According to the ultra-patriot, the vertical power structure formed under the Putin regime, which has no feedback, is extremely unstable. This means that it can collapse at any moment, even with the slightest crisis. “In Russia, the political clearing has been cleared, a political vacuum has been created, the system of checks and balances has been destroyed, and elements of feedback have been eliminated. And this threatens with very serious consequences in a crisis. This poses a threat to Russia’s sovereignty and its integrity. And that is why I’m ringing the bells about this… Tomorrow will be too late,” Alksnis stated.
