In Estonia, the annual Talvelaager (“Winter Camp”) military exercises were held, in which the country’s Defense Forces and allies took part.
This is reported by “European Truth” regarding ERR.
The Estonian military, together with its allies, rehearsed manoeuvers aimed at testing the preparation of infantry and mechanized units for combat operations in winter conditions.
On the eve of the weather, it was also possible to test the conduct of the battle in extreme conditions. In the morning, the air temperature at the training ground reached minus 16 degrees.
“The weather affects both equipment and people – our vehicles struggle to start. Batteries don’t last long, and the weather has a strong psychological effect on our people. That is, even before we start combat operations, we must ensure operational capability in these weather conditions,” said Allied Battle Group Commander James Fern.
More than 1,000 military personnel took part in the exercise, which took place on Saturday at the Central Training Ground of the Estonian Defence Forces near the city of Tapa.
We will remind you that since January 24, the NATO Steadfast Defender exercises, which are called the largest since 1988, have also been ongoing. 90,000 military personnel from all NATO members and Sweden, which is one step away from full membership, will take part in the manoeuvers.
Residents of Poland have been warned that starting next week, military equipment will be moving massively on the country’s roads in connection with large-scale NATO exercises.
