Activists came to the monument and laid flowers. “In recent years, the memory of Salavat Yulaev has been replaced in the republic. For example, he is increasingly being replaced by the Soviet general Shaimuratov. Some publicists even portray Salavat as a bandit and robber, a rebel. But the people will not fall for it. The memory of Salavat has endured for more than two hundred years and will endure now,” said Sagit Ismagilov, one of the activists.
“At this meeting, we decided to appeal to the authorities of the republic with a demand that the overhaul of the monument be carried out on the spot, without dismantling it and transporting it to another place,” Ismagilov informed.
Earlier there were reports that the monument will be restored in the workshop. Bashkir social activists, in this regard, expressed fears that the monument might then simply not be returned to its place.
