The project “Mutilated Childhood” documents children’s testimonies about Russian war crimes against the Ukrainian people. This is a study of the current situation and the evidence base regarding the forced deportation and abduction of Ukrainian children from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
In the film created by the “online.ua” team, the children and their parents told their own stories: some of them were in captivity, some were forcibly taken to a “rehabilitation” camp, some were separated from their parents during the so-called filtering measures.
As of June 1, at least 20,000 children deported by the Russian Federation from Ukraine have been identified. More than 4.5 thousand of them have the status of orphans or are deprived of parental care.
