Russian citizen Yevgeny Nakaznenko has been arrested in Kazakhstan. Russian law enforcement agencies have opened a criminal case against him under articles on “fakes” about the army and calls for terrorism.
As Radio Liberty reports, Nakaznenko was put on the international wanted list by the Russian Interior Ministry. He may face extradition to Russia.
Nakaznenko allegedly posted videos on his social media accounts criticizing the war in Ukraine and also reflected on Russian foreign policy.
According to Russian human rights activists, Nakaznenko was detained at the Almaty airport, from where he was planning to fly to Turkey. He allegedly did not know about the criminal case that was opened in Russia and was not hiding from law enforcement agencies.
By court order, he was sent to the Almaty pre-trial detention centre for 40 days for subsequent extradition to Russia.
