Ex-prime minister and former head of the British Foreign Ministry Liz Truss called on London and its allies to prepare for the potential collapse of Russia.
She said this during a speech in the House of Commons on Monday, reports “European Truth” with reference to Sky News.
“We and our allies – including the Ukrainians, including the Poles, including the Baltic countries – must make sure that we have a plan in case of the collapse of Russia,” Truss said.
Foreign Secretary James Cleverley, who also spoke in the House of Commons, initially did not react to Truss’s words. However, he later declared that “the leadership of Russia belongs to the Russian people.”
“We do not speculate and do not try to predict – we only plan and implement measures in case of unforeseen circumstances. Therefore, whatever the outcome of this conflict, we will be ready,” he added.
Cleverley also said that “Prygozhin’s rebellion is an unprecedented challenge to the power of President Putin , and it is clear that cracks are appearing in Russia’s support for the war.”
According to The Times, the British government believes that the United Kingdom should prepare for the scenario of the sudden collapse of the Russian Federation, so that such events do not catch London by surprise.
