Anti-imperial Block of Nations

On the night of 2 July the Kazakh opposition journalist Aidos Sadykov, who was attacked on 18 June in Kyiv, passed away, according to the post by his wife, Natalia Sadykova, on Facebook.

She emphasized that the journalist fought for his life for 13 days, but a miracle did not happen. Natalia added that the death of the oppositionist is on the conscience of the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

“Aidos Sadykov left us today at 3:00 a.m. Kyiv time. My dear husband, the father of our three children, a great son of the Kazakh people. Aidos gave his life for Kazakhstan, accepting a martyr’s death at the hands of killers. For thirteen days, Aidos fought for his life in intensive care, but a miracle did not happen. His death is on Tokayev’s conscience,” the post reads.

Attack on Sadykov

On Tuesday, June 18, a shooting occurred in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv. According to preliminary information, an unknown person ran up to the car and shot Aidos Sadykov with a pistol while he was in the vehicle with his wife. As a result of the attack, the Kazakh opposition journalist was seriously injured.

The attack happened not far from the house where the couple lived (since 2014, Aidos Sadykov and his wife had been living in Ukraine and had refugee status).

It should be noted that the oppositionist is known for his criticism of the Kazakh authorities and oligarchs, and his support for protests in Kazakhstan. In October 2023, he was put on the wanted list in his homeland for alleged incitement to hatred.
