Activists of “Mari Ushem” held a rally and organized a collection of signatures calling for the return of the old national flag.
“This flag is deeply rooted in the minds of the Mari people, and all those who live on the territory of the Republic of Mari El. It reflects the culture, history, and future of our Republic with you! Perhaps the action will not yield results in a state without rights, the activists believe, “but it will show every Mari that they are not alone in their desire to save national symbols from Moscow’s encroachment.”
